Questions patients actually ask

Cost, insurance, first visits, braces, and how the therapy works — answered plainly.

Cost & insurance
How much does it cost?

$250 initial evaluation · $150 private follow-up session · $500 four-visit package (after evaluation) · $65 small-group Schroth class (offered once you've completed a few private sessions and know your program). Every private visit is a full hour, one-on-one with a licensed therapist.

Do you take insurance?

We're an out-of-network provider with all insurance companies. Schroth and our other services bill under standard CPT codes, so if your plan covers out-patient physical therapy, you can typically submit our detailed statement (superbill) and be reimbursed at your plan's out-of-network rate. We provide the superbill; most patients find it a simple process.

Do you take HSA/FSA?

Yes — HSA and FSA cards are accepted.

Getting started
Do I need a doctor's referral?

No — Florida allows direct access to physical therapy. Book directly online or call/text (305) 431-4422.

What should I bring to the first visit?

Send X-rays ahead if possible. Wear a sports bra or bathing suit that exposes your spine (no racerbacks). Bring your brace if you have one.

What happens at the evaluation?

X-ray review (Cobb angle, curve type, remaining growth for kids), posture photos, education about your specific curve, and the start of your home exercise program. You leave understanding your spine — most patients tell us it's the first time anyone explained their X-ray.

Who will I see at my appointment?

Upright is a small team founded and led by Dr. Rebeca Correalima, now including a physical therapist and a physical therapist assistant, all trained in her approach. Every visit follows the same one-on-one format, whoever you see.

Treatment
What is the Schroth Method?

A three-dimensional, curve-specific exercise approach: corrective positions, elongation and de-rotation, rotational breathing, and strength work in the corrected position. Full explanation here.

Can therapy really stop a curve from progressing?

That's the primary goal, and research supports scoliosis-specific exercise — especially during a child's growing years and alongside bracing. We link the studies on the Schroth page, and we'll always be honest about what your specific curve can expect.

Is it too late for adults?

No. Adults come for pain, posture, and function — and studies show improvement there, with some showing Cobb angle reduction in adults as well.

My child is in a brace — do we still need therapy?

Bracing and Schroth are complements: the brace holds correction passively; therapy builds it actively and manages wear time. We also help assess brace fit and wean-in.

How often are visits?

Set at the evaluation. Typically more frequent while learning, then tapering as your home program takes over — we build plans around your schedule and drive.

What are the group classes?

Small-group Schroth exercise classes ($65/class) for patients who've completed a few private sessions and know their corrections — a way to stay consistent without booking privates forever.

Logistics
Where are you located?

11921 S Dixie Hwy, Suite 209, Pinecrest, FL 33156 — on US-1, second floor (elevator or stairs), with ample free parking. Directions & parking.

What are your hours?

Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm.

Do you treat patients in Spanish or Portuguese?

Sí / Sim — Dr. Correalima is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
